Stonyhurst CCF was privileged to attend Her Majesty’s Birthday Celebration at Lancaster Castle, on Thursday April 21st. The JUOs were invited by the Duchy of Lancaster, via the Queen’s Own Yeomanry, to mount a Guard of Honour with Troopers from B Squadron (Duke of Lancaster’s Own) Queen’s Own Yeomanry; they joined guests and dignitaries of the county for this very special, historic occasion.

The celebration began with an official welcome from Mr Nathan Thompson OS, CEO of the Duchy of Lancaster. The Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Lord Shuttleworth KCVO (5th Baron Shuttleworth) then read  two personal messages of thanks and good wishes from HRH Prince Charles and HM The Queen. Lord Shuttleworth proceeded to light Lancashire’s celebration beacons – one in the courtyard of Lancaster Castle and the other on top of the Castle Gatehouse entrance. All the guests were then taken on an interesting tour of the newly refurbished Prison Museum area, ‘A Wing’.

Mr Thompson spent time chatting to Stonyhurst’s JUOs, catching up with College news and events. Everyone enjoyed a most interesting and delightful evening, in celebration of Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday.

(Stonyhurst’s JUOs are: Edward Belderbos, Millie Bolton, Ryan Coe, Jude Deane, Lucy Harriss, Rhys Morgan and Joshua Reynolds.)
