A level Geography students undertook their annual, 2 day field trip to south Cumbria this month. Conditions were perfect for their research, which is part of the Geographical Skills unit.

Day 1 was based on the sand dunes at Sandscale Haws, where pupils investigated succession on the dunes. They collected a large amount of primary data which will be used for their report. Back in the classroom, the pupils started looking at their results in preparation for their data presentation. They also undertook some soils analysis and drew a transect of their dune.

Day 2 was spent in Barrow-in-Furness where the pupils investigated the decline and regeneration of areas in the town by undertaking surveys, questionnaires and observation techniques.
