Academic Scholarships

Expectations & Pathways of Academic Scholars

Enrichment talks, cultural trips, science workshops and both internal and external competitions - these are just some of the events that we expect our Academic Scholars to be involved with throughout their time at Stonyhurst as they demonstrate full participation in the intellectual and cultural life of the College and Prep School.

Those who gain an Academic Scholarship will be supported and challenged to extend their learning and to reach their full potential, which is an important part of our Jesuit ideal of ‘cura personalis’ or care for the individual.

Scholars are encouraged to find their areas of skill and passion and to go above and beyond the school curriculum to truly become independent learners. Working with the Head of Academic Scholars, their tutors and the other Scholars within the school, they encourage one another and take pride in their love of learning.

**

The progress and conduct of all scholars must remain satisfactory at all times, and continuation of the scholarship into the next academic year depends on continual engagement with the programme in place for them.
