We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Ian Murphy as the new Head of Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall.

Mr Murphy is currently Head of All Hallows School, a 3-13 Catholic preparatory school in Somerset. He brings significant experience of headship, having led All Hallows for the past nine years. Members of the selection panel are unanimously of the view that Mr Murphy is an excellent and worthy candidate to succeed Mr Larry Crouch as the next Head of St Mary’s Hall, and we look forward to a period of exciting development at the school.

Mr Murphy is a Catholic and was educated at Wimbledon College, a Jesuit school. He and his wife Rachel, who is also a teacher, have two children, and they will be moving to Stonyhurst for the Christmas term.

Mr Murphy said: “My family and I are very excited by the move to Stonyhurst. It is such a unique and remarkable community with a long and distinguished history. It will be a genuine privilege to lead St. Mary’s Hall into the next chapter of development. We shall all strive to build upon the considerable strengths and excellent foundations in place – seeking to innovate, still further, in order to ensure this wonderful prep school and its people continue to thrive and excel in the years to come.”
