Figures, Rudiments and Lower Grammar enjoy a teaching day which extends from 8.45am to 5.40pm and, while Figures and Rudiments continue to enjoy pastoral care in their St Mary’s Hall Playrooms, they will be academically stretched by the exceptional subject specialist teachers of Stonyhurst College, with some lessons taught in College classrooms.
During their final year at St Mary’s Hall, Rudiments students follow an induction programme designed to help them to migrate seamlessly into life at Stonyhurst College.
Pupils study RS, English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, Spanish, History, Geography, ICT, Art, Design & Technology (Lower Grammar only), Music, Drama (Figures and Rudiments only), PE and Games. In addition, all pupils study Latin and PSHCE.
Students in Lower Grammar follow a curriculum of considerable breadth before making subject choices for GCSE. There are lots of opportunities for consultation with individual subject teachers and heads of department, as well as guidance and support from tutors and the Careers Department before students finalise their GCSE choices, with your input, at the Lower Grammar Parents’ Weekend towards the end of the academic year.
