Prep and Elements students at St Mary’s Hall enjoy long, stimulating and productive days with lessons from 8.45am to 3.30pm.
Pupils in both Lower and Upper Prep are still taught by their class teacher, with increasing input from subject specific teachers as they progress through Lower and Upper Elements.
The curriculum comprises RE, Literacy, Maths, Science, French, Spanish, History, Geography, ICT, PSHCE, Art, Music, Drama, PE and Games. We also have a Learning Support department and a full time EAL (English as an Additional Language) teacher to support the individual needs of our diverse school community.
In Upper Prep (year 4) every student enjoys free music tuition for piano, any orchestral instrument, guitar, percussion or singing and many enthusiastically join the school orchestra, choir or numerous ensembles.
We monitor and track children’s progress through CATs (Cognitive Ability Tests) and iNFER (internal National Foundation for Educational Research) tests and prepare students in Upper Elements for NFER Key Stage 2 Assessment. St Mary’s Hall students consistently perform well above the national standard and their own predicted grades from the KS1 Assessment.
From 11+ we invite students to join the 11+ Scholarship Programme, consisting of two twilight sessions each week from September, to prepare for the 11+ Scholarship Examination in January each year.
