Stonyhurst Celebrates Strong A Level Results and University Destinations
Stonyhurst continued to perform above the national average at all measures. Across A Level, IB and Cambridge Technical qualifications 46% of outcomes were graded at A*-A equivalent or better, with 59% of outcomes graded at A*-B equivalent or better.
Stonyhurst is placed within the top 25% of schools nationally for pupil progress, with a number of individual subjects performing within the top 1% and top 10%.
These results follow an excellent performance from Stonyhurst’s International Baccalaureate pupils, who achieved an average score of 36 points, five points above the international average, with 89% of pupils scoring above this average. CTEC results also continued to shine, for the second year running, 100% of pupils achieved at least DD (Distinction/Distinction), with 67% achieving DD* (Distinction/Distinction*) or above across Business and Sport. These outcomes are equivalent to AA and A*A at A Level. Together, these results reflect the strength and breadth of Stonyhurst’s Sixth Form (Higher Line) pathways.
Stonyhurst leavers are now preparing to take their next steps, with over 60% heading to Russell Group universities alongside leading international destinations including Bocconi University in Italy, ICADE in Madrid, the University of St Gallen in Switzerland, Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, IE University in Spain and the Technical University of Munich in Germany, demonstrating the global connectedness and perspectives of Stonyhurst and our pupils.
Leavers will pursue a diverse range of courses including Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Engineering, Bioscience, Economics and Philosophy, reflecting the breadth of their interests and ambitions. Stonyhurst’s emphasis remains on the right pathway for each leaver, rather than an overbearing emphasis on institutional prestige as the determining factor.

UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM
Medicine | A* A* A* A
One of our 2026 leavers achieved an exceptional set of results, with A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics, alongside an A in Further Mathematics, and will now study Medicine at the University of Birmingham.
Their achievement reflects the academic ambition, commitment and determination developed throughout their Sixth Form journey at Stonyhurst.
DURHAM UNIVERSITY
Aeronautical Engineering | A* A A
One of our 2026 leavers achieved an A* in Physics alongside As in Chemistry and Mathematics and will now progress to Durham University to study Aeronautical Engineering.
With a strong foundation across the sciences and mathematics, their results reflect the academic commitment and determination demonstrated throughout their Sixth Form journey at Stonyhurst.
They now look forward to continuing their studies in engineering at Durham University.
NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY
Business Management and Marketing | A* A A
Following an excellent set of A Level results, including an A* in Business and As in English Literature and Geography, one of our 2026 leavers is progressing to Newcastle University to study Marketing and Management.
Their results mark the culmination of a successful Stonyhurst Sixth Form journey and the beginning of an exciting next chapter.
UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS
Environment and Business| A* A A
One of our 2026 leavers achieved an A* in Business alongside As in Economics and Geography and will now study Environment and Business at the University of Leeds.
Bringing together interests in business, economics and the environment, their chosen degree provides an exciting opportunity to explore some of the challenges facing organisations and society today.
