Bisley silverware for Stonyhurst

This summer, eight pupils from Stonyhurst attended the Cadet International Shooting meeting at Bisley in Surrey, returning home with silverware.

The national event was a five day shooting competition based around the cadet target rifle (7.62mm calibre). Every day, the team competed, firing at 300m, 500m and 600m distances using a rifle with no telescopic sights, just standard iron sights.

The team comprising; Samuel (Rifle Captain 22/23), Claudia, Thomas, Luke, Ben, Sunny, Zelie and current rifle captain, Alfie, performed well under the coaching of Ed Harriss (OS18), who was Shooting Captain whilst at Stonyhurst and now represents Wales, together with Dave Burton and the College's very own RSM Livesey.

Congratulations go to Luke and Alfie who clinched silver and bronze medals respectively. The Stonyhurst team were also awarded second place and a silver medal thanks to outstanding performances from Luke, Ben, Sunny and Thomas.

It has been four years since the College last competed at Bisley. Commenting on this year's success, Col. Barber said: "I am really proud of the individual and team performances this year. The team takes away a huge amount of knowledge and experience which will bolster them to achieve even greater things in 2024."
