Campion Day 2021 | Chaplaincy

We were delighted to celebrate the biggest Feast Day of our year, for Edmund Campion SJ, in all its former glory!

The day began with an introduction from our Direction of Christian Formation, Catherine Crombie, which you can watch here.

Pupils then went into workshops that covered the theme of Pope Francis’ Call to Sainthood:

  • Jesuit 101: Who the Jesuits invite me to be
  • Catholic 101: Who God calls me to be
  • Stonyhurst 101: Who our school traditions challenge me to be

We heard from our own internal speakers: The Collections and Damien Morley, as well as having input from the national Christian organisations, Girl Got Faith and Rise Theatre. Our pupil committee led a session on Stonyhurst for all Lower Line pupils.

In the afternoon, the whole school went onto the Avenue to put our communal Faith into action, carrying out a sponsored rugby throw to raise money for a Stonyhurst Bursary. Thanks to the generosity of the parent body, we raised just shy of £700 via JustGiving, please donate here.

High on success and College pride, the school then went into the crowning jewel of the day: Campion Mass.

Pupils raised the roof with the hymns and we saw the return of the much missed Pater Noster and Domine Salvam Fac.

You can watch the full Mass here.

The day ended with a Charity Campion Fair in the Top Ref, where Christmas chocolates and stocking fillers were enjoyed by all, followed by the highly anticipated Stonyhurst’s Got Talent!

Great thanks must be given to the full pupil body for entering into the spirit of the day so magnificently, and particularly to those pupils who delivered content in the Retreat sessions and took the stage in the talent show.
