Chaplaincy This Term

LG Faith in Action Bronze:

Our Lower Grammarians have been hard at work, planning different elements of CAFOD’s Lenten campaign to Walk Against Hunger. This might involve practical planning of the walking route, reflection stations along the way, or a Service of Reconciliation to prepare for the journey. We are looking forward to the whole of LG undertaking this walk next half term.

GR Faith in Action Silver:

Our Grammarians have begun planning for Stonyhurst’s Fair Trade celebrations next half term, including a bake sale, fancy dress, Fair Trade product sales and much more. Keep an eye out for updates after the holidays!

SY Faith in Action Silver:

Our Syntaxians have undertaken the important task of preparing the whole school Ash Wednesday Liturgy that will take place at the start of March. This is a wonderful demonstration of putting their faith into action for the benefit of the whole community and we look forward to marking the occasion with them.

PO Arrupe Programme:

The term began with groups receiving an external talk from a number of charities such as Xavier Project, Jesuit Missions and CAFOD. Each group was set a task by the external charity to raise awareness and/or funds for a particular cause. We are looking forward to seeing these projects turn into social action next half term.

Environmental Society:

The Environmental Society have now completed their application for Stonyhurst to become an Eco School and we are awaiting the result. The focus of the society is always two-fold: what is happening in the College and what is happening the wider world. The society therefore received a special workshop from Jesuit Missions, including input from OS Colm Fahy, who is now working for the charity. The workshop explored the climate crisis and the ways in which it is impacting people’s lives. As we move into next half term, the society will consider how we can make meaningful change within College practices, but also for the wider world as global citizens.

Altar Servers:

Our Altar Servers have continued their formation programme this term, learning new skills for serving in the Mass, whilst also learning about the theology that underpins the elements of their role. Well done to our Servers for their commitment and dedication to keeping this important tradition alive at the College.
