Children's Mental Health Week 2023

The children of SMH all participated in a range of activities to show their commitment to this national initiative which ran from 6-12 February.

With the theme of Let's Connect, the children were encouraged to think about and strengthen their connections to others: family, friends, classmates, clubs, groups and organisations. The children's mental health charity, Place2Be, have reminded us that we thrive in communities and this sense of connection is vital for our wellbeing.

Popular activities included paper chain making, filling jars with gratitude hearts and being anonymous kindness ninjas for someone else in the class and carrying out random acts of kindness for them.

The children were also given the opportunity to explore yoga, mindfulness and breathing exercises to help keep mentally healthy. We started with some breathing techniques, calming the body and mind. Then the girls mastered their own yoga position and taught it to the others. We finished with explore sensory objects in silence, listening to relaxing music.
