Club Hockey Success

Many of our pupils have achieved success on the hockey pitch in recent club tournaments out of school.

A substantial number of Stonyhurst St Mary's Hall pupils are following their passion for the sport in their own free time. On Sunday, seven of our Elements boys and girls travelled to Macclesfield to participate in the North West Clubs U10 and U12 Finals. All the children were a part of the teams that qualified as Lancashire Champions for their respective clubs.

Jasper and Finn also played for Garstang in the U12 boys’ tournament. Both boys enjoyed the experience of tournament hockey and, although the team did not win, they only lost two out of their five games.

Kitty, Matilda and Olivia all represented Garstang in the U10 girls’ tournament. Teams had travelled from as far as Penrith, with clubs playing from Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and of course, Lancashire!

The girls played extremely well to win three out of five games and they finished in a very respectable third place.

Olivia and Matilda scored goals and Kitty played with great awareness in defence.

The most successful of our pupils on the day were Hattie and Sophia, who played as part of the Fylde U12 team. In their five games, they won four matches and drew one. Both girls scored for the team and because of their performances on the day, the girls will now travel to Nottingham for the Club National Finals in May.
