Last Saturday our First XI welcomed the OS Wanderers to the oval for their first fixture after half term. Stonyhurst were bowling first on a sunny afternoon and did well to restrict the opposition to 190 in their allotted 40 overs with an outstanding fielding performance by the whole team. It was always going to be difficult chasing on a deteriorating wicket and we needed someone to get a big score if we were to stand a chance. Up stepped Henri Cottam who batted all the way through the innings to see the team home with 5 wickets remaining , ending up on a superb score of 104 not out. He batted with calmness and great maturity throughout. t was a fantastic day for Stonyhurst cricket with a lot of talented players on show.
