During a series of Careers assemblies and tutorial sessions throughout May and June, Grammar (Year 10) pupils have created a CV in preparation for their mock interview which took place on 19th May. The creation of a CV and completion of a mock interview was in preparation for the World of Work Day on Tuesday 20th June. This day off timetable was an opportunity for pupils to gain an insight into the world of work, and to help them prepare for the responsibilities and opportunities of adult life. This event involved the collaboration of several departments across the school including Marketing, Admissions, Tech Support, Catering, Stonyhurst St Mary's Hall, Grounds & Maintenance, Sports Centre etc. Grammarians were placed in one of these departments for part of the day and were asked to complete various duties by their supervisor. The rest of the day was spent engaging in a workshop on employability skills delivered by a representative from HOME (push.co.uk) and attending talks on ‘Expectations in the World of Work’ and ‘How to be successful in your chosen profession’ delivered by local business owners and OS.
Many thanks to our Head of Careers, Miss Nolan, for arranging such a brilliant event for our young people.
