Pupil voice is central to our way of life here at Stonyhurst. This week Mr Browne spoke in assembly about the importance of the Pupil Council in driving continuous improvement at the College.
The Pupil Council is hugely popular with applications to join flooding in this week. The new Pupil Council will be announced next week. The Pupil Council has four sub-committees run by Rhetoric council members:
Academic: Constantine (chair), Francesca, Alicia
Well-Being: Maeve (chair), Jane, Louisa
Experience: Dalu (chair), Georgia, Lily
Catering: Victoria (chair), Clemens, Zoe
There are frequent surveys to gather pupil voice, which has been very powerful so far. Last term alone, as a result of pupil voice, we worked with Mr Hanley to get to full participation in the line competitions, and looked at initiatives to make further links between playrooms. We enhanced Oxbridge support, extended practice times for musicians, worked on environmental initiatives and increased the visibility of the Higher Line pupils in the school by ensuring they take the lead in whole school assembly. In addition, Pupil Council members have been invited to governor meetings and are going to invite key staff to meetings this year. We cannot wait to see what the Pupil council will achieve this term, run by an excellent group of 12 Rhetoricians.
