Friday 28th May saw our Rhetoricians celebrate their very own Great Academies to conclude their time at Stonyhurst. The day began with Leavers' Mass in St Peter's, followed by Prize Giving and then a lovely lunch served in a marquee adjacent to the Jesuit Gardens. After lunch, the Rhetoricians were entertained by a live band who helped them toast the conclusion of their school careers in style.
Even though social restrictions meant that we could not welcome families to be part of the day in person, the ceremonies were live-steamed and a great time was still had by all pupils. Importantly, the day provided one last opportunity for friends to be together and to enjoy each other's company before embarking on adventures new.
The overriding messages from the day were consistent - all who spoke about the Rhetoric class of 21 were united in their fulsome praise of how they had overcome any barriers in their way over recent years, and the pride felt by all the staff in watching these young men and women leave Stonyhurst with their heads held high was evident.
