Rosslyn Park National 7’s

Congratulations to the 1st VII squad for their fantastic performance at the Rosslyn Park National 7’s competition this week. In glorious weather conditions and on near perfect playing surfaces the team continued their fine form competing against the top sides in the country. Following on from their victory last week at the Stonyhurst 7’s, the team once again produced exciting performances based on flair, fitness and determination.

On day one, Stonyhurst won all three of their pool matches convincingly beating Winchester College 41 - 5, City of London Freeman’s 45 - 14 and Kingham High School 53 - 7.

As group winners Stonyhurst progressed to day two, a real achievement in itself, where they found themselves in another tough pool of other group winners including Glenalmond College and St Peter’s York. Stonyhurst impressively defeated Glenalmond College 47 – 7 in their morning match, but in the afternoon lost to a very strong St Peters side 42-26 who subsequently progressed all the way to the final.

As expected at this stage of a national competition, the standard was of the highest order. To get this far was a tremendous achievement in itself, the Stonyhurst team should be very proud of their performances and deserve congratulations. Once more they were a real credit to themselves and to the College.
