The British Biology Challenge 2021

The British Biology Challenge is open to Lower Line pupils around the world. This year it took place in May 2021 and pupils were supported by Ms McGarry and Mrs Haworth.

The competition challenges and stimulates pupils with an interest in Biology to expand and extend their talents. It enables pupils to demonstrate their knowledge and to be suitably rewarded and publicly recognised by the award of medals, certificates and other prizes. It is hoped that competing in the Biology Challenge will encourage pupils already interested in this valuable, wide-ranging and rewarding subject to continue their study beyond GCSE.

The 2021 Biology Challenge, for Lower Line pupils, was a huge success for Stonyhurst College pupils. Over 26,000 pupils competed in the competition. Three pupils: Lily, Gabriella and Sebastian, scored over 80% in the assessments, putting them in the top 5% internationally, and were awarded a Gold Award. We also had a large number of other medal winners.

Silver Award Winners

Bronze award winners

Very well done to everyone who competed in the challenge. Points were awarded for individual scores which contributed to the Line competition. Campion and Shireburn were the joint winners.

Earlier in the year a number of Poetry and Rhetoric pupils competed in the 2021 Biology Olympiad. Congratulations to Joe and William who achieved a Silver and Bronze medal respectively.
