The Stonyhurst family mourn the loss of our beloved Pope Francis.
As a Jesuit school we felt especially close to the first Jesuit Pope. We are proud of the way in which he has opened the treasures of Ignatian spirituality to the whole world. He was indeed a man for others who always sought the glory of God and someone who was able to find God in all things. Along with the people of Rome who have lost their bishop, with the people of Argentina who have lost a loved countryman and with the worldwide Jesuit family, we thank God for a life of service well lived and we will pray ardently for the repose of his soul. May he rest in peace.
Prayer for Pope Francis
O God, faithful rewarder of souls,
grant that your departed servant Pope Francis,
whom you made successor of Peter
and shepherd of your Church,
may happily enjoy for ever in your presence in heaven
the mysteries of your grace and compassion,
which he faithfully ministered on earth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
