U15 Lancashire Plate Final

What a day of Stonyhurst Sport!

After the exploits of the netball girls, it was the turn of the Lower Line rugby player in two Lancashire finals tonight at Fylde RFC.

Grammar took on Bolton School in the U15 Lancashire Plate Final. After racing into a 15-0 lead at half time, the U15s looked well set, but a well-drilled Bolton team scored at the start of the second half to make it 15-5.

Grammar immediately hit back to lead 20-5 with 25 minutes to go. However, Bolton then enjoyed a purple patch of scoring to transform the game and eventually win by 31-20 in a high scoring and entertaining match.

In the second match of the evening, LG took on Lancaster RGS in the U14 Lancashire Cup Final. On the huge Fylde RFC pitch, LG worked the ball wide as often as they could against the larger LRGS team. They were rewarded with two first half tries from Coby and James, and an excellent conversion from Tom, to give Stonyhurst a 12-0 half time lead.

The second half was an even affair, with some ferocious defence on show from both teams. However, LG stopped LRGS scoring in the corner on two occasions with some marvellous last ditch tries to win an amazing final 12-0!

Our congratulations to Mr Longson and all of the LG boys!

Well done to both teams tonight and our thanks to all of the supporters - pupils, staff, and parents - who came to support the teams. It was a fabulous Stonyhurst evening of rugby! Quant Je Puis!
