The Politics Society, Senior Essay Society and PAST came together on Thursday to enjoy a talk from distinguished historian and journalist Lord Peter Hennessy.

A speaker of extraordinary charisma and humour, he captivated his audience for an hour and a half, taking as his theme: ‘Watching Prime Ministers.’ Reflecting on the ever-changing role of prime ministers in recent years, Peter was able to offer a remarkable insight into life behind the scenes in 20th and 21st century British politics, interspersing political and historical analysis with some memorable anecdotes. It was a real pleasure to welcome him to Stonyhurst, and we hope that he will come again.
Poet Rhys Williams commented: ‘It was a riveting talk, and particularly interesting as it related closely to our current topic of study.
