This week, the Politics Society, Senior Essay Society and PAST welcomed Professor Dennis Kavanagh, Emeritus Professor of Politics at Liverpool University, to speak about the changing role of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in British politics. Professor Kavanagh provided insight into the characteristics of a successful Prime Minister, the difference between ministerial roles now and in the past, and how the power of the Prime Minister has altered over the last century. He also shared many fascinating anecdotes from his own experience and expanded on many points raised by the audience. We are thankful to Professor Kavanagh for his visit and hope to see him again in the future.
