Syntax (Year 11)
Syntax (year 11) pupils follow a preparation for Higher Line programme where they have begun their chosen options for Poetry 2020. Individual pupil timetables are available on Firefly.
These courses are designed to introduce pupils to Higher Line study, in preparation for the A-Level, International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) or International Baccalaureate Careers Pathway (IBCP) that start in September.
The lessons enable pupils to consolidate key learning from GCSE and to develop the skills that will allow them to bridge the considerable gap between GCSE and Level 3 study. Pupils follow a weekly programme of three hours of online classes and two hours of independent follow up work per subject.
These Poetry courses enable pupils to be confident that they have made the right subject choices and to make more rapid progress in the initial weeks of Higher Line in September.
To supplement these programmes a series of ‘How to…’ seminars are available on subjects such as: ‘How to prepare for Higher Line study’, ‘How to improve my essay technique’, and ‘How to organise my time’.
