Rudiments Music class visit Longridge Hall and Lodge

On Friday 10th November a Rudiments (Year 8) class visited this nearby residential home. Under Mr Mann’s direction (Director of Music) the pupils sang a St Mary’s Hall favourite “Children of the Light” followed by individual instrumental pieces by Pelayo (keyboard), Tommaso (clarinet) and Harry (Violin) and a solo from Ariel (The Sound of Music). The residents joined in spontaneously, singing along to Harry’s Hark the Herald Angels and with Ariel’s solo.

The ladies and gentlemen of Longridge Hall were then invited to lend their voices to “Do Re Me”, singing different parts alongside our Rudiments pupils; Mr Mann challenging everyone to sing a little quicker each time!

Both before and after, the children were able to listen and chat with the elderly and hear something of their life experiences. It was an opportunity to spend time being really present with others. As is often the way, we came away equally enriched.

We are very grateful to the residents and staff for making us all so welcome and we hope to repeat the visit with other classes in the future.
