Fifteen musicians from St Mary’s Hall went to a concert for schools, given by the Hallé Orchestra, in the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on February 5th. The orchestra, conducted by Jamie Phillips, performed a range of music to illustrate the breadth, pitch, tonal colour and character of the various instrumental sections. All the SMH musicians, who are in Upper Elements (year 6), were fascinated to see the instruments they learn being played in the orchestra.
