Academic, All-rounder, art and music scholarships, are awarded on merit, at the Headmaster’s discretion at 11+ .
St Francis Xavier Awards are special awards available at 11+ to up to 10 students whose parents would otherwise not be able to afford Stonyhurst boarding fees. Successful candidates who would benefit from, and contribute to, the boarding community of this Catholic boarding school receive an automatic 20% fee remission, which can be combined with a bursary of up to 50%.
Assessments for the St Francis Xavier awards take place in January and comprise a written examination and one or more interviews.
Should further assistance, be required, the Bursary Committee will consider your application to supplement a scholarship or award with a bursary.
The bestowal of any scholarship or award carries with it privilege and responsibility. Every scholarship holder is expected to set an example for the other pupils in their conduct and approach to academic study and to participate in the fuller life of the school, through its programme of extra-curricular activities.
The tenure of a scholarship is intended to be for the duration of the holder’s education at Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall and College, provided the holder’s academic progress and general conduct remain satisfactory and provided that the holder continues enthusiastically to fulfil the obligations associated with the scholarship.
