St Mary’s Hall Cross Country challenge
After a very wet morning, the sunshine came out to bless this year’s Interline Cross Country competition. All children in Prep to Rudiments (years 3 to 8) took part in races around the wonderful Stonyhurst campus, including the SMH field and College Flats. Prep’s race was over a distance of 1800m – a real challenge for them which was met head on by Jim C, Oliver B and Hugo C for the boys, and India N, Nancy B and Phoebe Q for the girls, who all came 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The Elements race was a hotly contested event with three boys rounding the final corners together. In the end Archie F finished first, with Tom C and Harry B in the runners-up spots. For the girls, Hannah M proved the strongest on the day, finishing comfortably ahead of Scarlett-Tillie B and Lucy M.
For Rudiments and Figures, Hannah C ran strongly to finish ahead of Annika W and Emma C. Arguably, the performance of the day was from Alex P, who was approaching the finishing line in front of SMH as the next runner was entering the SMH fields. Dylan H and Oliver T came in as runners up, and will no doubt be spurred on by Alex’s challenge!
Well done to all runners and thank you to all parents who supported the event.
