Stonyhurst at ARTiculation Prize 2014

Niccolo Casparis (Poetry/Year 12) represented Stonyhurst at this year’s regional heats for the ARTiculation Prize 2014.

This is an annual event designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art amoung young people, and is promoted and organised by The Roche Court Educational Trust. Each student is invited to deliver a ten minute presentation to an interested audience about a work of art of their choice.

The regional heat was held at The Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield, and was adjudicated by Dr Abigail Harrison-Moore, Programme Director for the MA in Art Gallery and Museum Studies and the University of Leeds. Niccolo gave a very detailed, highly informed presentation on a traditional, calligraphy based Japanese Art form using Sumi ink line and wash technique, used by Toko Shinoda –san. His presentation was engaging, enthusiastic and flawless; although Niccolo was not selected to represent the North West at the Cambridge finals, he was certainly an excellent ambassador for Stonyhurst.
