Stonyhurst College News | Posted 26.11.2018

This year, to raise funds for our Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Week, we have produced packets of ten cards. There are three different designs to choose from each having a unique take on the true meaning of Christmas.

The first set of cards was donated to the college by Fr John Thorpe in 1747.

 Angels Singing

Italo-Flemish school, late 17th century

Donated by Fr John Thorpe SJ SO (St Omers) 1747

The second set of our Christmas cards is a picture of the Three Kings on their way to bring gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. This picture was donated to the school by Francis Davey in 1926.

The Magi following the Star

Persian, early 20th century

Watercolour on ivory

Donated by Francis Davey OS 1926

The third set of Christmas cards is an actual photograph taken by one of our current Rhetoric Students, Ching Hao (Jason) Leung.  This is a photograph taken in Winter of the stunning Stonyhurst campus.  As ‘Brothers Walk’ was so popular last year, we have decided to use it again this year.

The photograph is below:
