Drama
Subject Overview
Drama is a dynamic, collaborative and live art form. It is a practical subject that encourages discovery through experimentation, the taking of risks and the presentation of ideas to others. Students develop skills that are applicable to a wide range of higher education subjects and in the workplace.
Pupils will learn to develop both theatre and life skills; the building of confidence, creativity and working collaboratively. Through the study of theatre, pupils will become aware of their own personal and cultural perspectives and will learn to appreciate the diversity of theatre across time, place and culture, promoting international-mindedness.
At Stonyhurst, we are lucky to have a number of outstanding facilities which support drama and theatre pupils with their studies, performances and exams. Our state-of-the-art theatre, combined with our College Academy Room provide a real-life theatre experience with a professional lighting system. Performances are often held here for parents and fellow pupils to watch our pupils perform at particular times of the year.
**Please note that Drama will not be available to Sixth Form pupils during the 2024/25 academic year. Any enquiries for this subject at A level will now be considered to start in September 2025.**
