Physics

Subject overview

Stonyhurst pupils will learn about the universe and the amazing range of different ways that nature’s building blocks can be put together and interact with each other. Practical work is considered to be an essential part of the subject and pupils are taught how to be competent and responsible experimental scientists. We teach pupils to look critically at the world and how our theories and ideas have developed through the ages. At Stonyhurst, we aim to help students develop skills and capabilities that will help them in their adult and working lives.

The Physics staff are well qualified and enthusiastic and work hard to develop an academically challenging learning environment which includes the provision of drop-in clinics, tutorials and studies classes.
