Welcome to Year 7 and 8 in Aloysius House
Pupils aged 11 begin their Stonyhurst journey in Aloysius House, our friendly and welcoming co-educational house for both day pupils and boarders. All pupils in Figures (Year 7) and Rudiments (Year 8) are members of Aloysius House, our newly-created space for September 2024. We believe Aloysius House offers the perfect introduction to Stonyhurst life, combining expert subject specialist teaching with a supportive, close-knit community as a springboard to the wider College experience.
While Aloysius House has its own unique identity and atmosphere, it remains an integral part of Stonyhurst College and marks the beginning of an exciting journey through the College.

Line Families at Stonyhurst
At Stonyhurst, every pupil belongs to a Line Family — a group that brings together pupils from each year group. This unique structure creates a strong sense of belonging and community, while encouraging friendships and connections across different ages.
Older pupils take on leadership roles within their Line Family, offering guidance and encouragement, while younger pupils benefit from their example and support. In this way, Line Families strengthen the bonds across the school and ensure that every pupil feels connected throughout their Stonyhurst journey.

School day
Day and boarding pupils will register in Aloysius House Playroom every morning at 8:10am. At 08:30am each Monday there is a Headmasters Assembly in St Peter's Church for the entire College. Each lesson begins by coming together to complete The Examen, through which pupils and staff have an opportunity to reflect upon the previous day, express gratitude and set intentions for the day ahead, in a calm and prayerful atmosphere, setting the tone for the day’s learning. Lessons start at 08:30 or 09:00 depending on the day.
Pupils can be collected after lessons at 5pm, after activities at 5.45pm, or after supper at 6.15pm or after Studies at 7.15pm. You will simply need to confirm timings with your Playroom Leader. Sign out is at the Glass Doors. There is also day transport available at 7pm. On Thursdays and Saturdays, there will be an earlier pick up at 4pm and 3pm respectively.
