Drama

There is a good drama space with professional sound and lighting and a chain of performances from the ubiquitous Les Mis, to Fiddler on the Roof and Hedda Gabler.

The Good Schools Guide

A balanced education

Our co-curricular drama activities complement each other and combine to allow our students to celebrate their talents in our school productions and musicals.
Our performances always draw in a ‘full-house’ and have previously included ‘Fame’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Sweeney Todd’ and ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Co-curricular Drama activities and school productions take place in The Academy Room – a professional theatre space encompassing an auditorium for approximately 400 audience members. Find out more about our wonderful theatre space on our ‘Facilities’ page, available here.

The drama standards are very high at Stonyhurst and our often win places in the prestigious National Youth Theatre.
We offer a variety of co-curricular drama activities, to try and ensure our pupils will find an activity that suits them. These co-curricular activities include:

  • Acting
  • Stage management and set design
  • Costume design
  • Technical theatre
  • Public performances
