The Dream was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ devised, choreographed and directed by Miss Anna Southward and Mrs Andrea Morrison for Stonyhurst Dance. The production involved over 60 dancers, from tiny Hodder House fairies to accomplished dancers in Higher Line; their beautiful, polished and expressive performance delighted the audience, who enjoyed a mixture of romance, comedy and magic as elegant classical ballet mingled with modern dance.

Miss Southward and Mrs Morrison selected an eclectic mix of music for The Dream, combining Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Prokofiev, with Cheryl Cole’s Crazy Stupid Love for Puck and his entourage. There was live music too, played by Harriet Magill (violin); Miranda So (piano); Millie Mcleod and Millie Bolton (vocals); Miss Phoebe Robertson (harp) and  Mr G Mann (piano).

It was an enchanting performance which allowed so many people to play to their strengths, and which was an extremely enjoyable interpretation of Shakespeare’s play.

A collection and raffle raised £568 for the Stonyhurst Children’s Holiday Week Trust and for Dance Development.
