When in Rome

A group of History and Classics students enjoyed a wonderful trip to Rome recently. This three day trip visited several sites which complemented their A Level studies in Latin and the Catholic Reformation. Highlights included the Colosseum, the Forum, the Capitoline Museums, the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel, the Gesu and the English College.  The expert knowledge of Miss Parkinson and Mrs Graffius provided a superb historical and cultural perspective for the students who enjoyed the trip immensely. We were particularly grateful to Professor Maurice Whitehead, formerly of the University of Swansea and a renowned scholar of the history of Jesuit education, for showing us around the archives of the English College and some of its precious documents. We are delighted that a recent A Level History student, Will Jolleys OS, will be working with Professor Whitehead in the archive until the Summer of 2017.

Thanks go to Miss Parkinson, Mrs Graffius and Miss Robinson for their efforts in making this trip a memorable success.
